Michael R. Griffin, Sr.
Senior Pastor

Michael R. Griffin, Sr.

Rev. Michael R. Griffin, Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church. A native of Thomasville, GA and a graduate of Baptist Bible Institute (now Baptist College of Florida) in Graceville, FL, Pastor Griffin began his ministry in Hartwell, GA in November, 1992. In November of 1997 the Lord led Pastor Griffin and a core body of believers to establish a new work known as Liberty Baptist Church, believing that "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty!"

Bill Sturm

Bro. Bill serves on staff at Morningside Baptist Church, Valdosta, GA as a staff evangelist. He served 8 years in the pastorate and 36 years in fulltime evangelism. He is also the author of the book "Salvation: Real or Counterfeit." Bro. Bill is a frequent preacher at Liberty, calling us his "second home." Bro. Bill is married to Martha Sturm.

Dr. Gerald Harris

Gerald Harris has served as editor of The Christian Index since May 2003. Prior to joining the staff he served for nine years as pastor of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. Harris came to Georgia in 1990 as pastor of Peachtree Corners Baptist Church in Norcross, where he served for four years. He has served as pastor in North and South Carolina, and Mississippi. He is a native of Hickory, N.C.

Harris is well known to Georgia Baptists as a pastor and denominational leader. He served as president of the state convention in 1999 and has been an active member on a variety of committees, including the GBC Executive Committee, Administrative Committee, and chairman of the Nominating Committee. He is a trustee of Mercer University.

On the national level he has served on the SBC Executive Committee and on the Resolutions Committee, as well as on the board of the Baptist Sunday School Board (now LifeWay Christian Resources).

Harris has written for a variety of denominational publications, including devotions for Open Windows and HomeLife magazines. He has also authored two books, Pardoned to be Priests and Olympic Heroes: World-Class Athletes Winning at Life. Dr. Phillip Burden

Dr. Phillip C. Burden became the Senior Pastor of Cropwell Baptist Church on March 2, 2008. Prior to coming to Alabama, he served as Pastor of Big Stevens Creek Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC and Duncan Baptist Church in Holly Springs, NC. Pastor Burden´s desire is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by preaching the Word of God faithfully and equiping the Saints for the work of the ministry. God has called him to be an undershepherd of Jesus Christ, compelled by His redeeming love to feed the church on His Word and to bring the message of salvation to those who are without Christ. The church´s mandate is to glorify God and reach the nations for Christ.
