Michael R. Griffin, Sr.

Rev. Michael R. Griffin, Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church. A native of Thomasville, GA and a graduate of Baptist Bible Institute (now Baptist College of Florida) in Graceville, FL, Pastor Griffin began his ministry in Hartwell, GA in November, 1992. In November of 1997 the Lord led Pastor Griffin and a core body of believers to establish a new work known as Liberty Baptist Church, believing that "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty!"


Bill Sturm

Bro. Bill serves on staff at Morningside Baptist Church, Valdosta, GA as a staff evangelist. He served 8 years in the pastorate and 36 years in fulltime evangelism. He is also the author of the book "Salvation: Real or Counterfeit." Bro. Bill is a frequent preacher at Liberty, calling us his "second home." Bro. Bill is married to Martha Sturm.


Dr. Tom Rush

Dr. Tom Rush is an itinerant Evangelist with TREAD Ministries (Tom Rush Evangelism and Discipleship Ministries) in Monroe, Georgia. He is a native of East Point, Georgia, and a graduate of Georgia Tech (BSIM); Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv); and Immanuel Baptist Theological Seminary (DMin).

He has served as a Southern Baptist Pastor for over 35 years, serving churches in North Carolina, New Mexico, Florida, and Georgia. During that time Pastor Rush also served as Reserve Chaplain in the Navy and Air Force, retiring from the Air Force Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2005. He is the author of Your Reasonable Service: Understanding Your Motivation for Ministry, WestBow Press, 2017

Dr. Rush has served in numerous denominational positions at the local, state and national level, including the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. He is President of the 2017 Georgia Baptist Preaching Conference and is currently a Trustee of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been married for 39 years to Victoria, a Registered Nurse, and they have three sons and nine grandchildren.


Dan Spencer

Bro. Dan serves as President of the Georgia Baptist Convention, and the Pastor of First Baptist Church, Thomasville, GA. He has also served on staff at churches in Alabama and Missouri. He is a much sought after speaker for state and associational events, as well as Bible conferences. He and his wife, Tresa, have 2 sons.


Dr. Luther Price

Dr. Luther Price was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina. He was saved and called to preach at the age of 23. For 50 years Dr. Price has served as a pastor and evangelist, and he is currently the Senior Pastor at Bishop Branch Baptist Church in Central, SC. He is the President of "HIS" Ministries and Dean of the Upstate South Carolina Extension of Covington Theological Seminary.


Tony Samples

Bro. Tony is the founding Pastor of Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church in Dallas, GA which began in May 1992. Previously he served as Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Douglasville GA and as Associate Pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist in Hiram GA. A native of Bremen GA, he received his bachelor degree from West Georgia College. He has attended New Orleans Baptist Seminary and Liberty University. Tony and his wife, Cheryl, married August 1, 1987 and have two children: Zachary and Breeanna.

Pastor Tony not only preaches weekly, he is also involved in leading in couples’ retreats and participating in youth and children's camps. He has led Pickett’s Mill to be involved in both home missions and foreign missions leading groups to Ukraine for the past four years.


Dr. Gerald Harris

Gerald Harris has served as editor of The Christian Index since May 2003. Prior to joining the staff he served for nine years as pastor of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. Harris came to Georgia in 1990 as pastor of Peachtree Corners Baptist Church in Norcross, where he served for four years. He has served as pastor in North and South Carolina, and Mississippi. He is a native of Hickory, N.C.

Harris is well known to Georgia Baptists as a pastor and denominational leader. He served as president of the state convention in 1999 and has been an active member on a variety of committees, including the GBC Executive Committee, Administrative Committee, and chairman of the Nominating Committee. He is a trustee of Mercer University.

On the national level he has served on the SBC Executive Committee and on the Resolutions Committee, as well as on the board of the Baptist Sunday School Board (now LifeWay Christian Resources).

Harris has written for a variety of denominational publications, including devotions for Open Windows and HomeLife magazines. He has also authored two books, Pardoned to be Priests and Olympic Heroes: World-Class Athletes Winning at Life. He has a master’s degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctor of ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary.

He and his wife, the former Martha Jean Maxwell of Newnan, are parents of a daughter, Miriam, who is married to Billy Godwin, pastor of Ephesus Baptist Church of Douglasville; and twin sons John Mark and Gerald David.


Jamie Callaway

Bro. Jamie is the Pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Bowman, GA. He has previously served as the interim Pastor of Phillip's Mill Baptist Church in Washington, GA and as Pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Lincolnton, GA. He has also served as a sheriff's deputy in Elbert County. Jamie and his wife, Jill, have two children.
